Conferences and Meetings

Events of the ESD FORUM e.V.

The ESD FORUM e.V. hosts periodically the following events:

ESD-Forum

Every other year, the ESD-Forum is the central event of the ESD FORUM e.V. The conference language is German, but English may also be used for papers and presentations. Approximately 100 ESD experts from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and other European countries typically participate in the ESD-Forum.

The conference deals with the effects of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical overstress (EOS) on electronics. It offers participants from industry, science, and research a forum to discuss possible improvements and new solutions for ESD and EOS-related problems and also provides information on new trends and developments in the field of electrostatics.

At the ESD-Forum, specialist presentations and invited lectures by leading ESD experts will be given on the following topics:

  • Fundamentals of ESD, EOS, and latch-up
  • Measurement, characterization, and qualification
  • ESD and EOS control programs
  • Protection elements on component and system level
  • Damage, failure mechanisms, and reliability
  • ESD and latch-up requirements, standards, training, and education

All presentations are published in conference proceedings and on this website (all members of the association have access to the proceedings of all past conferences via this website). The event will be accompanied by tutorials on different topics and an exhibition of manufacturers and distributors of commercial ESD products covering e.g. access controls, flooring, work areas, personnel equipment, ionizer, packing, as well as test and measuring instruments.

Information for Authors

The ESD-Forum aims to be a scientific conference for experts in the fields of ESD and EOS. For a contribution to be accepted, it is usually necessary to submit either the complete paper or at least an extended abstract (500 words or one page). The abstract should contain the main points of the paper and, in particular, allow at least a rough conclusion to be drawn about the methodology and results of the work. It should convey enough content to enable the program committee to make an informed decision about whether to accept or reject the paper. Therefore, mere announcements (β€œIn our paper, we will show that ...”) that do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the content should be avoided. Likewise, company presentations and advertising do not belong in the abstract or in the paper. Detailed discussion of trivial matters that are not directly related to the topic should also be avoided. Where necessary, a reference to the relevant literature is usually sufficient.

European EOS/ESD Manufacturing Symposium

Since 2014, the ESD FORUM e.V. hosts the "European EOS/ESD Manufacturing Symposium" (also known as "European ESD Factory Symposium", international conference in English language) together with European ESD partner organizations.

Technical papers and invited talks address ESD/EOS issues in manufacturing. Participants from many European countries, the US and Asia guarantee an active discussion and exchange of experiences. Tutorials and an exhibition of commercial suppliers and distributors of ESD control materials and measurement equipment are also part of the conference.

The next European EOS/ESD Manufacturing Symposium will be in Hungary in November 2025. It will be organized by Hungarian ESD experts  together with the Finnish ESD Organization STAHA and the German ESD FORUM e.V.  The program of the EuropeanEOS/ESD Manufacturing Symposiums will be published in the second quarter of 2025.
